Hill Valley Orchestra in the castle park
After the Hill Valley Orchestra concert in June had to be canceled due to bad weather, the band has now given a replacement concert. Since the holiday season has already begun and not all band members are in the country anymore, the musicians have decided to present the current program in a slightly different guise with a decimated line-up with acoustic guitars, stripped-down percussion and unamplified brass section: unplugged. Songs like “Statesboro Blues,” “Still Alive & Well,” “Blues By The Bay” and many others were given an interesting new twist by the acoustic instrumentation and the associated lower volume. That and the tried and tested mix of Blues, Rock and Southern Soul thrilled the audience and the musicians clearly had fun. The wonderful, mild summer evening, the enthusiastic audience, the unique atmosphere of the castle garden, the chili con carne, which is already iconic at HVO concerts, and one or two special drinks made the evening a well-rounded affair, a work of art. ~ re
